Thank god Friday is here! This has been my first week back in reality and I am desperate for the weekend. I need to make this clear - I love my new job! My co-workers are awesome and the work itself is fun. It has just been tough adjusting to a normal schedule. I have also been very busy with my social life. Big problem, I know! I need some “Mike” time. A day that I dedicate to relaxing. Maybe next week. Tonight I had a hockey game. Hockey has been a frustrating experience for quite a while. I was never great at it. As a younger man, my greatest skill came with my ability to hit people in open ice. I would consider that a skill as it takes some serious timing. Before I took a couple of years off, I was the kind of guy who scored goals. I knew that if I got the puck that there was a good chance it was going in the net. I was so confident in my abilities. These days I have crawled into some kind of shell that I just can’t bust out of. I seem to get more hesitant with each game. I am so screwed up that my body just freaks out when I am near the puck. I know I need to just slow things down and take the puck and take my time and look for opportunities. Knowing and doing and very different things. Amazing what confidence can do! I have it in all other aspects of my life. None on the ice anymore. I am thinking I should get drunk before my next game. I am always a little more ballsy when I have had a few. Let’s see what happens! Happy Friday everyone. If you are in Canada then I know what you will be watching tonight
As usual, here is an SMBC comic that has nothing to do with anything.

One day in and I already miss life as a bum. For the first time since December of 2008, I am back in the ranks of the working class. I actually had an excellent day at the office. Everyone was very nice and it seems like it will be a fun group to be around. I will get to satisfy my geeky nature while I continue to pursue my ultimate goal of being a firefighter. It really is the perfect situation. Hell, my new boss even bought me lunch today! Not bad at all. Everything was great right up until 5:30 when I left the office. In case you don’t live in Toronto, we got hit with a bit of a snow storm. This wasn’t exactly unexpected, it was on pretty much every weather report you could find. Somehow this managed to cripple the commute home. my hour long drive took 2.5 hours to get home! I needed over an hour and a half just to get to the highway. On my drive I saw people in ditches, people who had smashed into each other and people who almost ran over pedestrians. Seriously, we live in freakin’ Canada. This is freakin’ February. Why the fuck are we so unprepared for this?!?!?! It’s snow. You have seen it before! Make your dumb ass familiar with it’s properties and it’s affect on your vehicle. This will come up again in the near future. Unless you have the memory retention of an eggplant this knowledge will be applicable repeatedly. Just a tip from your favorite smart-ass! Now, as is tradition, a web comic that has nothing to do with anything I just talked about. This is just about how awesome engineers are. Enjoy!

Every dude has dealt with this before. I can’t even say too much because the comic does it for me. Just read and enjoy. Any guy that has been through the same situation, which is probably all of you, will instantly feel it! This comes to us courtesy of AbstruseGoose.

The weekend is over and I already need another one! I am crazy busy trying to stay on top of school work while also having summer fun. It’s a tough balancing act. I went golfing on Friday, but I also had to study for a Monday mid-term. Next weekend will be more of the same. Actually, every weekend will be more of the same. I am exhausted just thinking about it. I guess it is time to laugh. I haven’t posted any comics lately so this is my attempt to make up for that. I picked two of the better SMBC funnies from the last week or so. Enjoy!

*Yeah, that would be me if I ever went to rehab. Now that we have made fun of alcoholism let’s go with an equally fun topic such as women’s rights in history…

Sorry for not having much to post the last two days. I had to see an orthopaedic surgeon about my broken wrist and they had me fitted for a different cast. This one is cooler than the last one, but it also makes it a lot harder to type. This new thing is made of fiberglass instead of plaster and is much lighter and more breathable. I am supposed to be in this for two weeks before being re-evaluated. I am pretty sure this thing will drive me crazy and I will be forced to remove it myself. Tomorrow I will try to get some pics of this thing and post them up here. Here is a spoiler: it’s a funky colour! Either when I do it or the nurses remove this I will try to get a video up on YoutTube. So, tonight I will give you a comic from SMBC. This has relevance because I just checked my first semester grades and, as expected, I was awesome and rocked all A’s. Had I gotten an F I may just have tried this.

Holy Shit! I didn’t post anything last night. I am sorry about that. I was completing an assignment, studying and working out. All the while I was looking after some animals, including my ever present monster named Chubbs. I really have to jam now because I will be late for school. Luckily, I have a relevant web comic about that from XKCD! Happy Friday everyone.

I hope everyone is having a better Monday than I am. I fell out of bed, cut my leg on an elliptical and managed to have a 38mm handling knock me over. For anyone with any experience firefighting, they will know that a 38mm is a glorified garden hose. I somehow lost control of it and had it knock me to the ground! I wish someone caught it on video because I am told it looked hilarious. Other than that I have a pretty relaxed week for once. I have some time to crack into a new book. The book deals with religion, but in a really funny way. I will explain all about it in another post. But, for now, I will give you a comic that has some relevance to religion. This is a good reason to study your bible if you are Christian. If you aren’t then we look ridiculous for praying to a dead carpenter so you can laugh at this anyways.

I have a hockey game tonight so I am not sure if I will be able to trade during my usual evening hours. I also have a couple of tests tomorrow so I really should spend any free time studying. I know this blog is about Forex but I do try to mix it up a bit. How do I do that? Simple: throw in some random comics that have absolutely nothing to do with Forex! I can always count on the good people at SMBC for that. On that note…

Sorry for the extremely late post today everyone. I got caught between a bunch of tests today and studying for tests and a presentation tomorrow. Whoa…flashback to when I was a punk student in my teens. Weird. Now that I know all there is to know about myocardial infarctions, I need to relax. What better way than with a comic that has nothing to do with anything? C & H can always be counted on for that. Check out their latest…

Life as a student is tough! Although I am in school specifically to be a firefighter I still have to take an English course. I recently had to write an essay. I haven’t written an essay since high school. I am the worlds most amazing blogger (personal opinion) so I figured it wouldn’t be too difficult. I ended up getting 90% on the thing. Although that is a good grade it got me wondering what I could have done to make it perfect. As with most questions in life, Strongbad usually has the answer. He wrote an incredible English paper for one of his loyal fans. I should have downloaded that paper and turned it in. Click on the pic of Strongbad to see his work.
