Alright, I know I am extremely late to wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day.  I figure that if you have someone you love then you were probably busy spending time with them, so you really shouldn’t have been checking out my blog.  If you were alone then you probably didn’t want me reminding your lonely ass about the empty life you live.  I spent Valentine’s evening drinking with some friends at a bar downtown Toronto.  Things got a little hazy and I ended up in some persons living room wearing pants that didn’t belong to me.  Weird.  Well, weird for anyone but me.  Sadly, this kind of thing seems to happen fairly often for me!  I spent all of the holiday Monday recovering from the damage I did to my liver.  This week is all about trying to get back into some form of routine.  School is done.  My vacation is over.  It is time to get back to reality.  I recently accepted a job offer with a tech company in Toronto.  I start my job on Monday.  This will be my career until I get on with a fire department in the area.  I am pretty excited about making money again.  I haven’t done that since 2008!  That pretty much gets you up to date on my world.  Here are two Valentine’s Day related funnies that I think you will enjoy.  The first is from FailBlog and features a bunch of wedding proposals that are…well…complete fails!  When asking someone to marry you in front of a large group of people I would think you should make sure beforehand that the answer would be a yes.  After that you get the Valentine’s Day comic from XKCD.  God I love geek humor!  Since I am largely abusive to you, my faithful blog readers, I think today I should be nice.  I actually love you all….except Kevin Gray.  I hate you Kevin.  I hate you with every muscle in my elegant, brown body!

wow, it really feels strange to write 2010 on the title of this post.  I am sure it will take me a while to get over the habit of ‘09.  My New Years was a relaxing little gathering at a friends place.  That didn’t stop me from knocking back enough beer and bubbly to kill a horse.  At 3am I took a cab to another location and honestly felt like I was traveling through a post-apocalyptic war zone!  Hoards of people were on the street trying desperately to get into the cab.  Twice we had people jump on the hood of the car trying to get the attention of the driver.  We finally avoided all the zombies and I got to my destination.  New Years day was a day of recovery.  I did manage to get in a weight workout and a run.  Well, it was 3/4 of a run.  I walked the last KM because I was out of gas.  The evening was spent with an amazing dinner of butter chicken and naan.  I tried to have a couple pints but threw in the towel after only one.  I am 31 years old dammit.  I need some downtime!  I think the rest of this weekend is going to be very chill.  I am also fairly confident I am coming down with one helluva cold.  I hope everyone out there is enjoying these last few days before we all go back to reality.  Well…not me…I have never been anywhere close to reality.  Here is a comic that, as usual, has nothing to do with anything!

Hello all.  As some of you probably know, my site got hacked a few days ago.  At first I was certain that it was an exploit on Wordpress that was exposed.  After going through pretty much every freaking file of my installation, and replacing with known good files, I shifted the blame to my host.  They took care of the problems and luckily I only lost a couple of posts.  Worst case scenario, I would have lost about 5 posts because of my most recent complete backup earlier in the month.  Once again, situations like these make a strong case for being anal about backups.  Even if some Internet jack-ass screws my site up, it really wouldn’t take much to throw in a clean install of Wordpress and then load up my backups.  I have been dealing with some interesting quirks after regaining control of my site though.  I hope to get those sorted out soon.  Obviously, I have to prioritize.  New Years is coming up and I need to know where I am going to get drunk!  I will certainly try to shoot you a post either before, during or after New Years.  That’s right, I said during.  Gotta love being able to post via Blackberry!  As usual, here is a comic that has nothing to do with anything I just mentioned.

Sometimes, even someone as great as me needs help.  I recently had a bit of writers block strike me down while I was trying to write up an English paper.  Lord knows why a firefighter would need to really understand how to write a great essay - but I do what I am told!  Thank god for the internet.  There are a million websites that can assist any student.  My choice was to go to Homestarrunner and get some help from StrongBad.  That dude can help anyone with anything.  I have posted this clip twice before, but it is so good that it deserves another play.  Also, you can download the .doc file at the end!  If anybody out there has an essay or report due, I suggest you use StrongBad’s file as a template!  Click on the image of StrongBad to go see the show.

Alright, I have been ultra-lazy when it comes to blogging lately.  That is probably because I have been ridiculously busy over the last week.  I wish I had more to talk about, but my life just isn’t that interesting.  Or, maybe it is so interesting that it is all a secret and I am just keeping you in the dark.  Intrigued?  Then consider yourself verbally bamboozled.  As is my trend in these situations - here is a comic that has absolutely nothing to do with anything!

Being single, I can appreciate how hard it is to meet people some times.  Let’s face it, there is a lot of competition in the city.  It really can come down to that first impression.  That first pick up line you get out might be a “make or break” moment.  It’s just unfortunate we have to be so crafty with our language in order to get some attention.  I long for simpler times.  Here is a quick look back at early man in the process of a pick up.  They really knew how to rock a pick up line!

Ah, that magical line that someone usually throws out when a relationship is done.  A lot of people have different theories on the subject.  Many people can downshift into friends immediately.  Others have no desire at all to be friends.  Here is a funny twist on the subject.  I am sorry for my lack of posting this week.  I have been very busy.  I picked up a new Blackberry Tour and have been busy tinkering.  I think I finally have things setup exactly how I like.  The speed difference when browsing the web compared to my old pearl is incredible!  It should make for easier posting when I am on the go.  I will probably post all about it some other time.  Enjoy the comic!

• Anyone who live in Canada enjoyed a nice holiday weekend.  So, this is sort of like a Sunday night post.  One of the best parts about turkey day is all the leftovers.  I managed to get 4 leftover turkey meals into me today.  I also managed to take 3 naps - which is probably why I am posting this at around midnight.
• This weekend was filled with some interesting times.  I went out for lunch on Saturday and actually ordered the fish.  I usually plan on ordering fish and always make a last minute switch to steak.  As a result of this my penis fell off.  No, it really didn’t.
• I went to a bar I haven’t been to in a long time.  I drank my body weight in beer - which is a place I have been to many times.
• A plan for late night Chinese food was derailed by some crazy drama.  For once, this didn’t involve me in any way.  Note: shawarma makes an excellent backup food plan when the dead-beat father of some random girls baby is at your favourite late night Chinese restaurant and she is driving you around for some reason.  Don’t worry, that isn’t supposed to make sense.  I was there and I still don’t get it.
• Spending quality time in bed was definitely needed after a late night food adventure.  My choice of shows to watch was How I Met Your Mother: Season 4.  Barney get’s even more awesome!  I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys high levels of awesomeness.  If you don’t like the show…well…you probably suck and I don’t want you reading this blog.  Seriously, stop reading.  I can do nothing for you.
• The Toronto Maple Leafs, with their improved defense corps, can’t seem to play anything that even resembles defense.  It’s a very interesting problem.  Since the opposite result is happening from our efforts then we should just go with that.  They should try to throw a game.  Lay down on the ice and let the other team play.  Sure it’s a bold plan, but it really can’t get any worse!  That seems to be what the guys are doing anyways.  At least this way they can prove an ability to execute a plan for a full 60 minutes.  And there you have it.  My weekend summary.  Since I always try to add value to your visit - here is a cartoon that has nothing to do with anything.

Good morning everyone!  Hopefully you are all waking up hung over as hell and plan to spend the day on the couch watching movies and football.  I have a volunteer gig and a ton of homework, so that is going to take me right up until around midnight.  Crappy!  Oh well.  My life has ramped back up to being completely busy.  I guess it’s a good thing I am single.  Speaking of that, here are a pair of comics from SMBC that seem to revolve around that single theme.  Enjoy!
