Holy crap this week has been insane! Work has had me busier than I have ever been in my life. Combine that with a heavy work out schedule and the fact that I am trying to maintain a social life and you get a guy who pretty much hasn’t slept in a week. My project was supposed to run over the weekend, but that got pushed back. So, I am free all weekend! I am so pumped about this because today is going to be my Bday party. I turned 32 on Thursday and I am meeting up with some friends tonight downtown Toronto to have too much to drink and get into some shenanigans. One of the problems with planning any form of party like this is that you always get some people bitching about the location. This is the one night where I really wont care about anybody else not liking the location. I enjoy it. There are plenty of good beers to drink. Lastly, it’s my damn bday!!! Besides, I can pretty much guarantee that it will be fun. I plan to drink until I can’t feel feelings. Most of my readers are in the States, but if you happen to be in Toronto and want to come out and say hi, feel free to come to Bier Markt King West. I will be the ridiculously handsome brown guy who is passed out on the floor. As per usual, here is a comic that has nothing to do with anything.

I have been a bad blogger! I went the week without really giving you much to see. I wish I could say my life has been crazy interesting, but it really hasn’t. I have been very busy with work and…well…that’s about it. Between that and hanging out with friends I really don’t do too much. I guess I do have one thing that I am really excited about: working from home. Now, back in my previous career (before going back to school) I was able to work from home fairly often. I knew my job well and found myself more productive as a result of not having to commute. Now, I am a guy who likes to have a presence at the office. Spending 3 hours a day in my car has kind of made me hit my limit. I finally worked from home one day this week and it was everything I dreamed it would be. No commute. Eating lunch on my couch. Sending emails without pants on. Working from home took a bit of planning though. I have a desktop computer at the office and I sure as hell wasn’t going to bring that thing home with me. Remember how I geeked out one night and installed Windows 7 on a partition of my hard drive via BootCamp? Well, there was a purpose to that. I installed Shrew Soft VPN client so I could tunnel into the office network. After that it was just a matter of hooking myself up with VisionApp so I could connect to all my servers via RDP and I was good to go! One thing was missing though - dual monitors! Apple charges an ass-hammering $34 for a display adapter that will let me hook my laptop up to the DVI port of a monitor. I call bullshit! Enter my favourite website for cables and adapters - Monoprice.com! The same damn thing is on sale for about $8. Even with shipping I only spent $11. Massive savings! Even more impressive, as a friend and I recently discovered, are the savings if you need a wall mount for your flat screen TV. Check it out, you will shit yourself with glee! So that takes me right up to the weekend. I have a couple of Bday parties and a charity hockey game so my schedule is nice and full. Since I do try to always add some value for your visit, here is a comic that has nothing to do with anything.

As I write the title to that post I find myself a little shocked. Christmas is almost here! Not only that, the year is almost done. 2009 definitely had a fast pace. I am officially done all my classes for school. What I am not done is one last essay I am supposed to mail in. It’s due today. Once I pick a topic I will be set! This last weekend we had the informal party with my grad class. We got some hotel rooms and some drinks. I honestly don’t remember much else. Great times…I think! I spent Sunday laying in bed watching TV. We were so lazy we ordered in for both lunch and dinner. That kind of laziness takes a very special kind of tired. My bathroom renovation is pretty much complete. The shower looks amazing. I will post some pics of that later. Now I just need to wipe down absolutely everything in my room because of all the dust. How do I wipe down stucco walls…or a fabric couch? I continue to read “Watership Down” and I really don’t ever remember it. It seems like something everyone read back in school. I had no idea rabbits lead such interesting, spiritual lives. Do other animals have books like this? I am also reading “Pride & Prejudice & Zombies” and what the bible says is true: Zombies are awesome. As is my trend with these ramblings, I like to leave you with a comic that has nothing to do with anything. Enjoy your Tuesday everybody!

Another end to a week end. This time I was busy doing personal things, as opposed to fire ground training. I had a lot of school stuff to take care of but still managed to get to Hamilton, ON for one party and then up to King City, ON for a house warming. All in all, a good weekend! This week I have Wednesday and Thursday off so I am looking forward to getting some things done. Hopefully I will be able to get some trading done too! As always, you will be the first to know if I do make a trade. Since this is either your Sunday night, or Monday morning (depending on when you read this) I will give you something funny to read. Enjoy!

Finally, a day where I was able to sleep in! I had more fire ground training yesterday. Needless to say I am still pretty wiped out. I would love to spend the entire day in bed, but I have hockey tonight. I think I will have some time to relax sometime around September! I am hoping to get in some trading in the week ahead, but we will see how that works out. I will post something related to training early in the week. It is all about knowing when not to trade. I think you will find it pretty informative. Anyways, since this is a Sunday I figure you could use some comics. Here is a good one from SMBC.

Every once in a while you hear about a new site that is just awesome in it’s simplicity. It is something so easy that you could have easily started it. But, you didn’t. Someone else did. And now you visit there site and kick yourself in the ass. I once featured one of these amazing sites called HotChicksWithNoEyebrows. In fact, if you click THIS LINK you can see a pic of me without eyebrows. I am even more streamlined than usual! I recently came across another site worthy of being mentioned on this blog. It is called Garfield Minus Garfield. It is simply Garfield comic strips that have Garfield removed. It turns into a horribly depressing and sad insight into the Jon character. That poor bastard really is alone and depressed. I strongly suggest you check them out regularly. Here are some samples.

Alright, I have been a very bad blogger this week. It has been a couple of days since my last post. I hadn’t intended for this week to be so busy. It all started going to the shitter for me on Tuesday when I found out that my class had a last minute training session thrown at us. This means that I have to be on the training grounds on Thursday and Saturday instead of having days off. Why was that such a problem? My cast was supposed to come off after a re-evaluation with the specialist. These training sessions are specialized and it is not really something you can make up later. So, to hell with my health! I waited at the hospital for about 6 hours on Tuesday night only to find out that they didn’t have the saw to remove the fiberglass cast. They did get me an appointment first thing in the morning to go to the fracture clinic to get it off though. So, I went home for about 3 hours of sleep and then woke up to get the cast removed before class started. Needless to say, I wasn’t anywhere near a computer during any of this. That is my big dramatic excuse. I feel like I need to make it up to you. My last post was serious too. Hmmmm. I know! Comics about cheating and hookers from SMBC! That should make up for it. My next post will cover some of the positives and negatives about our “free” health care here in Canada. For now, enjoy some mindless fun!

*And now for something about hookers…

Anyone who has been around this blog long enough knows that I enjoy making fun of religion. There was this post…and this one…and also this one! It is not that I am knocking people with faith, I just find it funny how people get so pissed off about it. Seriously, pretty much every religion teaches peace and we have used this as justification to kick the shit out of anyone who has a different version of this peaceful message. I find that irony pretty funny. And, to be fair, I will make fun of every religion…especially my own! That’s why I enjoy anything to do with Jesus being less than “bible-esque.” In spirit of that I have two things to bring you. One is the newest book I have decided to read. It is called “Lamb” and it is by some guy named Christopher Moore. Apparently this guy has built quite a library of books taking a funny/sarcastic look at things. In Lamb he delves into Jesus: the missing years. These are stories told by Christ’s best buddy growing up named Biff. I just cracked into it and so far I can tell you that it reads very well. It is a pretty cool style of humor, funny because of the topic but not so obvious otherwise. I would have probably finished the thing if not for the fact I have 5 final exams this week. It’s a good thing that I piss excellence! Back to Jesus. Here is the pic of the book. Now you know what it looks like so you can go buy it or rent it or borrow it or download it or whatever the hell you do to read things. And, just for fun, I threw in a comic on this topic from SMBC.

I always wondered why there is such a stigma about Internet dating. The Internet is the most prominent form of communication for everyone. Yet, if we meet someone online we prefer to lie about how we met them. Somehow it is more socially acceptable to say you met when you were wasted at a bar. Weird. Now, I actually did meet my girlfriend at a bar. BUT, if I met her online I wouldn’t have a problem saying so. Think about it. If you meet online at least you get to see some pictures and talk to the person first. When I went on my first date with my girlfriend I couldn’t even remember what she looked like! I was pretty hammered when we talked at the bar so she could have been ugly! Lucky for me she was gorgeous and things worked out. Since you can never trust what people say, you need a chart to decipher what they really mean. Below is a chart/comic that clears everything up. So, according to this, I met my girl through friends. How did you meet your significant other?

OK, I wanted to take before and after pics of my windshield repair yesterday. Unfortunately the pics didn’t really show well. Taking a picture of glass is harder than I thought it would be. Anyways, I was completely impressed with the guy who did the repair. I called at 9am and he came to my house to do the repair at noon! You just don’t see service like that anymore. The best thing is that it only cost $95 after tax. And that was for a 7 inch crack. This won’t help anyone outside of Toronto, but for those of you who are in the GTA and need your windshield repaired then I strongly suggest you go to Auto Glass Canada. Since it is Saturday, I might as well bring you something from Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. I was looking through the archives on the site and they seem to have some good relationship humor going on. You should definitely check it out. Enjoy your Saturday!
