I mentioned yesterday that I had a messy round of golf with Johal on the weekend. We decided to hit up Hockley Valley once again. The course kicked our asses. Maybe it had something to do with the massive amount of beer we drank. Maybe it was…wait…no…it was the beer! I threw together a quick little video of our day on the course. There are gaps in the video that match up with the gaps in my memory. Isn’t golfing the best?!
I love this time of year. Baseball is almost done, the NFL season is underway and basketball and hockey are about to start. It’s a glorious time of year for people with HDTV’s! I am a massive hockey fan so I have been keeping myself alive through the summer by watching clips on YouTube. I saw something that I totally forgot about. Owen Nolan calling his shot. That is the stuff that sports legends are made of. Oh, but it gets better! He called his shot on Domenic Hasek, who was a world stopper at the time. And he did it at the all star game…in the city he played for…and it was his third goal of the game! Yup, you couldn’t set it up better than that. Check it out:

These are dry days for the sports fan. Hockey hasn’t started training camp. Basketball and Football haven’t cranked up either. In Toronto we are lucky because we have the FC of Major League Soccer. Baseball? That sucks. It’s like going to watch a sub-par movie. In my longing for the hockey season to start, I have been trying to find out information about the upcoming Toronto Maple Leaf squad. There are many unanswered questions about what this team will look like. It will definitely be younger than previous teams. The huge question is whether Mats Sundin will return. Wondering about that can drive you crazy because only the big Swede can answer that one. And even he doesn’t know right now. I started to look into the rookies and there are a lot of good things being said about a Russian named Nikolai Kulemin. He is expected to jump right into the NHL and the scouts are excited about his scoring abilities. This kid hasn’t played a game in the NHL yet and he already has a tribute video! That’s pretty impressive. Check it out. This might be a bright spot on what could be a tough year for Leaf fans.
